Flies are insects with a single pair of wings rather than the two pairs most insects have. There are many types of flies in the western suburbs of Chicago, but the most common are house flies. You are likely familiar with house flies, but here is a glance at their appearance. They are a dull gray color with four lines on the top of their body, a gold and a silver stripe on their face, and large red eyes.
